Montana is darn lucky to have Congressman Denny Rehberg serving on the House Appropriations Committee. Rehberg is Montana’s only voice of our three man Congressional delegation having a seat at the appropriations table these days.
Earlier this month, Rehberg was able to bring almost $8 million to Montana in appropriations from the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations committee.
Rehberg managed to get Montana $24 million from the Defense Appropriations Committee this year for some very worthy projects all over the state. That’s quite an accomplishment, and I applaud him.
Sadly, this is quite a bit less than the $60 or $70 million that was appropriated to Montana in defense funds during each of the last two fiscal years. That was when Montana had a Senator AND a Congressman both on the Appropriations committee.
Of course, Montana’s Senators may try to take credit for Rehberg’s work on appropriations funding, but the fact is Montana is down to only one person with the clout to bring home the Federal funding and that’s Rehberg. He actually has a seat at the table.
