Queue up the music…

I like President Bush a little more these days. Maybe it’s because he’s decided to stand up to the do nothing Democrat-controlled Congress.

These days when Bush makes a speech, his staff should play the theme song from the movie, “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly” in the background. Bush can play Clint Eastwood’s character.

It’s too bad Bush waited this long to start being tough. As I have said before, Bush’s head is sometimes made of granite. He seems to have surrounded himself with yes people or people afraid to disagree with him. Bush and his administration have also proved that it really does not matter from where one gets a college degree.

On the other hand, the Democrats can be called, “The not ready for primetime players.”

While doing laundry yesterday, I listened to the President’s speech to the The Heritage Foundation. Of course, it was a friendly audience – a red meat type audience.

Bush brought up some good points, like we have not been attacked in this country since 9/11. Somebody is doing something right. Since Bush is in the White House, then he gets the credit. It is funny and also sad, but the more days that have rolled by since the 9/11 attacks, the more it appears many Americans and many in Congress have forgotten about it. Thankfully, the President has not.

Personally, I like the Patriot Act. Some candidates even ran (and some won) on doing away with the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act has not bothered me. A friend told me one time, “If you are breaking the law, then you should worry. If not, don’t sweat it.” Good advice. I’m also not worried about someone taking my guns. I still use my cell phone.

I’m not too concerned about waterboarding, either. It’s not a topic at dinner. It appears that’s what the knuckleheads on the Senate Judiciary Committee are worried about and it may derail the United States having a new Attorney General. I might care more about waterboarding if I were a terrorist.

Bush promised to veto three spending bills the Democrats hope to bundle into one. Good for him. Make them work. The democrats have not even passed a Veterans Appropriations bill yet. So much for their theme, “We support the troops.”

There are about 14 months left of the eight year Bush Administration. Queue up the music…
