If you want to understand how outside money has influenced elections and paid for the lefties political action here in good ol’ Montana, then you have to read a post by Carol at Missoulapolis called, “Forward Montana: A Tentacle of the Machine”

Carol’s post shows that the left’s grassroots efforts here in Montana are, well, not exactly grassroots.

No more casual Fridays in Congress?

Or, no more Congress on Fridays? The Democrats plan on shortening their workweek during the second half of the 110^th Congress, which starts in January 2008. They seem to believe they have worked so hard this session, they deserve a little extra time for themselves.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland said it was to allow more time for members to be in their districts. Does Rep. Hoyer really think people would believe that? Let’s be truthful: It’s about more time for campaigning, fundraisers and junkets.

There’s an election in November 2008, so my crack staff (of one) here at The Western Word believes the real reason is to win elections in 2008. In Washington D.C., it’s all about winning the next election.

As I blogged yesterday, this Democratic-controlled Congress may go down in history as the one that has done the least for the United States. This is another example.

Just Dumb

This was just dumb.

FEMA used some of their staff to act as reporters and ask questions to a deputy director. There were no other press people in the room! Double dumb.

But, it kind of reminds me of Max Baucus standing outside his Hart Senate office, answering a question on camera…just like he was being interviewed. The question and the answer are provided to the Montana media and they eat it up.
