A short follow-up to my post on 09/05/07: “Sir, we’re missing six Cruise Missiles with nuclear warheads…”

As you may remember a B-52 with six nuclear-tipped cruise missiles was flown from Minot in North Dakota to Barksdale in Louisiana. Nobody noticed…for awhile.

It looks like 70 airmen will be punished for this mistake, with the top one being a Colonel.

When I was a member of the United States Air Force, we used checklists for everything, and I mean everything. It appears these airmen decided to develop their own checklist for loading the missiles.

They missed a step: Remove warhead.
