The campaign finance reports are in for the Montana at-large seat currently occupied by Congressman Denny Rehberg.

The report shows that Rehberg holds a significant fundraising edge over Bill Kennedy.

Next up we’ll probably have Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, issue a press release telling Montana voters that when Bill Kennedy is elected, she’ll place him on the House Appropriations Committee. You know the trick – so Montana won’t miss out on that federal funding.

Or, Kennedy may tell voters he’ll do away with the Patriot Act or that he’s against earmarks, period. Maybe he’ll say he will personally end the war and bring the troops home.

You won’t fool Montana voters twice.

It is becoming apparent that the Rehberg/Kennedy race will be the top race in the state, so more “crap” will probably start flying soon to see if it sticks. There will be YouTube moments. There will be promises. There will be attacks. I can’t wait for the flyers to come in the mail. And yes, the phone calls – The Get Out To Vote (GOTV) calls – from places like Ohio are always neat.
