The Griz and the Cats both hung on for victories on Saturday.
The Cats, playing in a mud bowl, beat Southern Utah 7-3. The Cats are 4-1. After watching the players roll around in the mud all afternoon, I wonder how long before Montana State invests in artificial turf? Hey Alumni…
The Griz ran into offensive juggernaut, Eastern Washington, but managed to win 24-23 and stay undefeated. The Griz are 5-0. Their uniforms stayed clean.
Big College
It was “Gut Check” weekend in College football.
#1 LSU beat #9 Florida 28-24 to stay undefeated.
#4 Ohio State may move up to number two in the country as they beat #23 Purdue 23-7
Other than that, upsets continued:
#2 USC lost to Stanford. That ended USC’s 35 game home winning streak.
#5 Wisconsin lost to Illinois
#8 Kentucky lost on Thursday to #11 South Carolina
#17 Missouri beat #25 Nebraska 41-6 to go 5-0. Mizzou plays at Oklahoma next week. We’ll see if they are for real.
And finally, Notre Dame won a game
Sunday Tackle Football
I am 9-4 going into the Monday night game. The Broncos were killed by the Chargers 41-3. The game was so far out of hand that CBS switched to the Ravens/49ers game in the second half. Oakland leads the AFC West (they did not play Sunday) with a 2-2 record. The Chiefs, Broncos and Chargers are all 2-3.
I’d like to thank the idiot from CBS in Montana for selecting the Cleveland/New England game to televise. Maybe next week you can air Miami at Cleveland? I mean, these teams are pretty close to Montana, right? Geez.
The Colts and the Patriots continued to roll and are 5-0. Green Bay lost their first game on Sunday night and Dallas plays Monday night.
The O-For teams are New Orleans, St. Louis, and Miami.
Racin’
Jeff Gordon won Talladega with Jimmy Johnson in second. Unlike last week, there appears to be no controversy.
Baseball
The Rockies and the Diamondbacks will play each other for the National League pennant.
The Red Sox will play the winner of the Indians/Yankees. The Yankees won a big one last night 8-4.
Hockey
And finally on the frozen pond, here are the scores: 3-2, 2-0, 2-0, 4-3, and 5-4.
