It looks like public opinion won out over greed today as Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton and Montana’s junior U.S. Senator Jon Tester returned the money linked to the associates of Mr. Norman Hsu.
Hsu is supposedly wanted on a warrant in California in connection with a 1991 grand theft charge and now may be under federal investigation for allegedly violating election laws. I read that since 2004, Hsu has donated $260,000 to Democratic Party groups and federal candidates, and raised hundreds of thousands of additional dollars. One has to wonder how many votes did he buy?
The Associated Press is reporting that Tester is returning $4,750, which is more than previously disclosed in a story that appeared in the Billings Gazette last Saturday. It appears that Tester did not wait for a “ruling” on the donations as he first said he would.
On Saturday, his spokesperson said if the donation was made illegally, then Tester would “…return it or donate it to charity.” It appears Tester will return the money to the donors.
It appears the public perception, helped by the media and bloggers, about the tainted donations got the best of Clinton, Tester, and others.
The story of Mr. Norman Hsu, his associates and the donations to Clinton, Obama, Tester and Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill is far from over. The FBI is supposedly investigating, so we should soon be reading some leaks in the media from someone close to the investigation. Stay tuned!!
