McCain makes comeback?

I watched the Republican debate tonight on Fox News. Here are the top four in my opinion:

1. John McCain
2. Rudy Giuliani
3. Mike Huckabee
4. Mitt Romney

The rest were far behind, although it was fun to watch Ron Paul. The exchange between Paul and Huckabee about the war in Iraq was great. Brownback, Tancredo, Paul, and Hunter are having a tough time breaking through.

McCain made sort of a comeback tonight. His answers were clear and concise and he seemed more Presidential.

Romney probably did the worst of the top four. He seems like he’s wearing too much starch in his shirts. Romney saying his sons’ driving in a RV across Iowa is serving their country like our military personnel serving in Iraq was probably the last straw for me. A man whose son is serving in Iraq brought up those remarks and Romney looked like a scared rabbit. Maybe his sons can drive their RV to Montana…in February.

Rudy Giuliani was strong tonight and lagged behind McCain by just a little. He needs to add some points about what he will do in the future and not dwell on the past too much.

Mike Huckabee is getting stronger. His answers are getting better and he’s coming across much more concise and clearer with his answers.

One person who was not there was Fred Thompson. He has finally decided to get in the big race, as he ran a campaign ad during the debate. Tonight he’s announcing his candidacy on the Tonight Show. But like I said earlier, he peaked months ago. He’s looking old and tired lately. Maybe he can bring on the makeup people he uses on Law and Order to spruce him up a little?
