They’re back

It’s time to come out of the bunker. The children can play outside now. Congress goes back into session this week. They have left the state for the D.C.

They better be careful flying through the Minneapolis airport on their way back to Washington, DC. I hear there are frequent sting operations going on there. My best advice is: Do NOT tap your foot in the toilet.

I tried to keep track of Baucus, Tester, and Rehberg during the August recess. Tester was the easiest as his schedule was updated frequently. Rehberg was easy through August 14 as his schedule was posted through that date. The only thing I knew for sure about Baucus is he held his annual barbecue early in August.

None of them did much. I saw on the local TV news that Tester worked on his farm for some media attention. The Montana Democrats alerted us that Rehberg took a couple of trips.

There are a lot of things to work on in the remaining days of this session – like all the appropriations bills. The big thing will be the report on the progress in Iraq. It seems the democrats have given up on ending the war. Gonzales is leaving, Rove is gone, and Tony Snow is leaving. Who will be the next to leave? Who will be in the crosshairs of the democrats now?

Speaking of sessions, the Montana Legislature is meeting this week to provide more funding for the fire season. It should be simple. Yes, it should be.
