Ah yes, the weekend is upon us. The steaks are defrosting getting ready for the barbecue tonight. The yard is looking good and green. The tomato plants are producing. The “cold drinks” are in the fridge. The laundry is done and the house is clean. Life is just pretty darn good.
Speaking of barbecues
Max Baucus is trying to make a little campaign money during his August recess as he is holding the “2007 Sieben Ranch Barbecue & Hoedown” on Saturday at 5:30. For a cool $50 bucks (per adult) you can eat, drink, and listen to music. If you want to donate more, you can be a Platinum Sponsor for $1000 or a Gold Sponsor for $500. If you’re under 12, you can eat free. Maybe the parents could drop all their kids off who are under 12 and then pick them up later???
It looks like with all the money Max has raised, he would hold a free picnic? I remember Conrad Burns holding free picnics across the state during his campaign of 2006. It’s funny how different politicians view things, huh?
It’s Fair Week in Billings
The fair is kicking off in Billings. The fair just concluded in Great Falls. The bad news is this means school starts before long. I don’t like school starting before Labor Day. I think it should start after Labor Day and end before Memorial Day.
Speaking of fairs my daughter (age 9) and I attended the fair in Great Falls. She rides the kid’s rides. We both ride the adult rides. It was about 1000 degrees that day, but it was nice day to buy a wristband and ride until we almost puked.
Memories
I remember way back when I was 17 asking a girl to ride the Ferris wheel with me. She cautioned me that rides made her sick, but I convinced her that she wouldn’t puke riding a slow ride like the Ferris wheel. Yep, I was wrong. After the third time around, she heaved a bunch of fair food down the front of my shirt. It might have been a good idea for me not to put my arm around her, but I was just 17 and did not understand the art of vomiting yet.
Political Action
As soon as Labor Day is over, we’ll probably see more action on the political front here in Montana. People will pay more attention to what’s happening in the world, except people like me who concentrate on football!!
Have a safe weekend!
