Debate?, Match-Ups, Work Period, Jobs

A Debate in Iowa?

I guess there was a Republican debate on Sunday in Iowa. It was broadcast on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” George needs to advertise more.

The Presidential Match-ups I’d like to see

I think with all the candidates running for President, there are a couple of match-ups that I would like to see.

The first would be Clinton versus Giuliani. They almost squared off a few years ago for the New York Senate seat. It would be like a subway series (Mets vs. Yankees). Since current New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg may run as a third-party candidate, this makes this match-up even more interesting.

And the race that would be fun to watch, but there’s a very slim chance this will happen, is Dennis Kucinich versus Ron Paul. Wouldn’t it be great to see the very far left candidate against the very far right candidate? I would pay to see them debate each other one on one.

The “Summer District Work Period”

Have no fear; “they” are gone from Washington for a month. Our pocketbooks are safe. We can get out of the bomb shelter and restock our food supplies. The children can play outside again. You don’t have to watch C-SPAN or C-SPAN2 to see what they are doing to us. Take a break and enjoy your time off.

The U.S. House of Representatives adjourned on Sunday for their “Summer District Work Period” until Tuesday, September 4. The U.S. Senate is out until September 4, too. PARTY!!

Be advised: There’s a very slim chance that some of these folks may actually visit your city or town this month so check their website for schedules (if they have one or if they keep it updated). If they are holding a campaign fundraiser, we’ll be sure to hear about it beforehand.

Job Openings

The Governor has hired a state legislator to fill a position in his administration. While some folks believe this is totally wrong, and that it erodes the faith in Government, I don’t really care. My faith was pretty much eroded already during the last state legislative session.

Maybe there is a rainbow to all this? Since I’m looking for a job, maybe I could be the “Governor’s Official Blogger” for $45k per year? I’d like to be paid more ($60-$90k), but most of the legislators working in Helena for the Governor and other state officials are getting around $40-$50k, so I don’t want out do them. This is state government and they don’t print the money like the Feds do.

If the Governor did decide to have an official Montana State Blogger, this would be cutting edge and national news.
