Last night in the U.S House of Representatives there was big hullabaloo over some maneuvering by the Democrats regarding an Agricultural spending bill.
Supposedly, the Republicans wanted to keep undocumented immigrants from receiving any federal funds in the agricultural spending bill for employment or rental assistance so they wanted that out of the bill. The Democrats wanted that in the bill. At one time the vote supposedly ended in a tie, so the measure would have been defeated and the Democrats would have won. But at another time, the vote tally favored the Republicans so they would have won. Interesting, huh?
It was a time of yelling, name calling, and a few obscenities. Some Republicans (maybe 100) left the chamber which reminds me of my childhood neighbor who, when he was not winning the game would say, “I’m taking my ball and going home since you’re not playing fair.”
But the Democrats are just as bad. They seem to be saying, “We are in charge and you’ll do it our way or no way.” It looks like the Democrats called the vote to end when it was tied. One report said that the person in chair at that time received a signal from his democratic leadership to call the vote as over. The Republicans went ballistic and claimed the vote total changed after the vote was called, and it was in their favor. I remember reading that someone said the board that lists the votes electronically had somehow become inoperative. Nice.
A couple of reports said the vote was not listed in the House Daily Digest of their proceedings. It’s like it never happened. I could not find it either, but it does state:
“N O T I C E Incomplete record of House proceedings” for August 2.
Do the boys and girls in the House need a timeout? The Representatives will soon get a nice vacation from August 6 until after Labor Day which, in my opinion, is crap. Of course, they call this a “Summer District Work Period.” Meanwhile, the war goes on, illegals are still crossing the border; bridges in our country are in need of repair, no appropriations bills have been signed into law, and they won’t have any votes until after Labor Day. Takin’ Care of Business? Hardly.
It seems I’ve seen this “movie” before, like in August 2006, 2005, etc. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Meet the new boss… same as the old boss…
