Tonight was the Democratic debate on CNN. It was sponsored by YouTube. This was a fantastic format with questions from common people on video from YouTube.
This will probably change the face of debates forever. The Republicans get the same format in September. It made it fun and enjoyable to watch. Some of it was funny and some sad.
So who won?
Clinton:
She seems to me to be more knowledgeable about the issues than most of the others. Obama had some moments, but he is appealing less and less to me.
So who lost?
Edwards:
His answer to his wife’s comments about Hillary was terrible. Saying he did not like Hillary’s jacket when he was asked to say something he liked and disliked about the person to his left did not help his cause. His wife got more coverage than he did. His answer about allowing gays to legally marry was below par. He said something to the effect that he is a Southern Baptist and doesn’t morally think it was right because of his religion, but that being President does not allow his religion to get in way of running the country. I guess he forgot that Southern Baptists are very much pro-life and he’s pro-choice.
Here are my opinions about the others:
Biden:
Was very strong on some issues and he also let his hair down some and made some jokes.
Dodd:
He’s a nice guy, but he’s not catching on.
Gravel:
He complained about not getting many questions. He needs to be told, “This ain’t the 60’s anymore, Mike.” Goodbye.
Kucinich:
If you are a far left winger, then he’s your man. He does well in these debates. He has the answer to ending the war.
Richardson:
I like him. He may have broken through tonight, but it was a long time into the debate before he was able to comment.
Here’s the final standings from Jack the Blogger:
1. Clinton
2. Obama
3. Kucinich
4. Biden
5. Richardson
6. Dodd
7. Edwards
8. Gravel

Yeah, Yeah, I agree with you: last night’s format represented a giant leap forward and upwards as far as setting a new standard for presidential debates. A crucial question is (remains) whose unseen hands select the questions as well as who moderates? Anderson Cooper did very well.>>The downside is so few questions were given to the true truth-speaking Progressives, Kucinich and Gravel. This < HREF="http://thedcshuffle.com/2007/07/24/youtube-cnn-democratic-debate-analysis/" REL="nofollow">is demonstrated here<>. This IS the 60’s again. deja vue, Baby.
