Senate 2008 Montana

The Associated Press is reporting that former state legislator, Bob Keenan, may enter the U.S. Senate race against Max Baucus.

Yawn.

Readers may remember that Keenan “sacrificed” himself to run in the Republican primary against Conrad Burns because he was “concerned” (or was it convinced by all the negative ads) that Burns might be indicted. By the way, Burns is still free. Keenan garnered 22% of the vote against Burns. At least he may win the primary against Mike Lange if he decides to run.

As normal, the Republicans welcomed Keenan with open arms and the Democrats say Max is busy working for Montana from his “powerful” spot in the senate.

Let me interpret what they mean: The Republicans are saying, “Thank God, we may have someone running besides Lange.” The Democrats are saying, “Since Rehberg isn’t running, we’ll crush you like a gnat because we have raised $6 million.”

Like I’ve mentioned in a previous post, a lot can happen in 16 months and if Keenan gets in the race, it will at least be a little more interesting.
