Polls, Trouble for McCain, Rehberg/Kennedy, Candidates

It’s neck and neck…

A new Associated Press (AP) poll came out the other day and the U.S. Congress is rated lower than the President. Interesting.

According to the poll, Congress has an approval rating of 24%, which ties them for the record low with the Republican controlled Congress in June 2006. We all know what happened to that majority.

President Bush has an approval rating of 33%.

Many of the reasons for the low ratings are because people are getting sick and tired of the fighting between the Legislative and Executive branches. It does not seem they are getting much done. The Democrats did promise to get us out of Iraq during the 2006 elections. That promise won them the majority. So far, the promise has gone unfulfilled.

McCain in trouble?

Senator and Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain has about $2 million left in the bank. Maybe that’s why I received a lot of campaign e-mails from in asking for money recently? He’s fired people and laid off campaign staff. Is the McCain campaign dead? I don’t think you can say that yet, but it is on a ventilator and in critical condition.
McCain is stubborn, so I would not count him out just yet. He’s gone against his base supporters on immigration and against some of them about the Iraq war and that has hurt him.

Rehberg raising money and so is his opponent

Congressman Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., raised about $120,000 during the last three months, but his only challenger so far, Bill Kennedy, raised about $115,000.
Since Rehberg has not really had a serious challenger since he won a tight race in 2000, he’s managed to save some money and has almost $340,000 in the bank. This should be an interesting race. There will be others who enter, I’m sure.

I need a candidate…

I would still like to see someone enter the major races against Max Baucus and Denny Rehberg who has some defense/military experience – like a veteran. Since Burns was defeated, we have nobody with clout (seat on a military/defense committee) to fight for Montana’s only active Air Force Base and for our Army and Air National Guard units.

I know, I know, they all say they do, but so far they’ve lost a quarter of the mission at Malmstrom so pardon me if I don’t believe them.

  1. <>I would still like to see someone enter the major races against Max Baucus and Denny Rehberg who has some defense/military experience – like a veteran.<>How about you? The only question is whether you have deep enough pockets to run.
