Training Military Personnel

In the United States Military, everyone goes through some initial training when they enter the military. Mostly it’s called “Boot Camp” by civilians no matter what branch of the military the person has chosen to serve. After boot camp, personnel are then trained in the what their primary job in the military will be at various locations around the country. These primary jobs range from being a chef to being a intelligence analyst. They can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of years. One thing for sure, the initial training gives you the skills needed to fight.

Here’s the time it normally takes to complete the initial training:

Marine recruits have “Recruit Training” for about 12 weeks
Army recruits have “Boot Camp” for about 9 weeks
Navy recruits have “Recruit Training” for about 8 weeks
Air Force recruits have “Basic Training” for about 6 weeks.

The most interesting thing that this shows is that although we can train our military to fight, on average in about 8 weeks, the training of Iraq’s military continues into its fifth year…What’s up with that?

We send personnel to the United States Military Academies and they graduate in four years as full-fledged officers.
