Potshots, Looking Back, Immigration

Yes, we are getting sick of it, too…

The Helena Independent Record’s editorial board says they are getting tired of the potshots from the Democrat and the Republican Parties in Montana. They called their editorial, “Potshots getting old.”

They concentrate their opinion piece on the fellow from Bozeman, Steven Daines, who had a complaint filed against him by the democrats for running a website called “Giveitback.com” where he wanted the democrats to give back the surplus.

It seems the two major political parties are so afraid to run on the records and what they stand for, that Montanans are subjected to the crap they throw at each other.

Maybe the Helena IR reporters and editors will help stop this. A good start would be to run only real news about the parties and being a little more selective in what they print from them.

Come on, come on, listen to the money talk…

In my weekly review of the political websites, I noticed that the Montana Democrats have issued a “we told you so” press release saying Montana has not missed a beat in obtaining Federal funding since Conrad Burns was replaced by Jon Tester.

I guess the Montana media did not think this was such a great observation since I have not seen it in the news, but maybe I missed it.

If a person keeps looking back at things, they may trip on what is in front of them.

Some of the information they listed as proof were grants that our two senators did not have anything to do with, they just announced it. With no senator on the appropriations committee, it will be very hard for Montana to get as much federal money (earmarks) as they did in the past. Rep. Denny Rehberg does have a seat on appropriations which has helped keep the appropriations money flowing, albeit a trickle so far in FY 2008.

Immigration…

Speaking of former Sen. Conrad Burns, I see where he’s written a Guest Opinion in the Billings Gazette today called, “Immigration policy should change to benefit U.S. citizens”

I enjoy seeing our former elected officials give their views on the issues. Former Rep. Pat Williams gives his opinions frequently and I enjoy reading them. They all have a unique perspective from being former elected officials who are currently not caught up in it by all the politics.
