Missoula and Kalispell: The Editorials

A resolution that’s really not needed…

The Missoulian Editorial board says “City leaders should stick to community business” in response to the resolution to be presented to Missoula voters on November’s city ballot that “urges” the United States to get out of Iraq.

The editorial board says, “Decisions on military action taken by this nation against another nation are reserved to the representatives we elect to Washington, not City Hall.”

The Western Word totally agrees with the Missoulian’s editorial.

It’s all political…you got that right…

A few miles south of Missoula, the Kalispell Daily Interlake editorial board says “Mercer’s exit was a smart move” in regards to U.S. Attorney Bill Mercer’s decision to remove his name from consideration for a high level U.S. Department of Justice position.

They write, “The entire investigation of the firing of U.S. attorneys has been politically motivated from the start, and there is no reason for Mercer to let the Democrats get some more fund-raising mileage out of their solemn sound bites as they grandstand for the moral high ground in the D.C. swamp.”

They also say, “In the meantime, Washington’s loss will be Montana’s gain.” True. Very true. The fresh air and the scenery are much better in Montana, too.
