On Sunday, Lee Newspapers did a story regarding the upcoming Montana GOP convention with the headline in the Billings Gazette titled, “State GOP begins its repair job.”

The Helena IR called the story, “GOP to meet, regroup”

The Missoulian called the story, “GOP tries to regroup at convention”

The 10-15 comments in the Billings Gazette about the story were quite interesting and not very many were kind to the MT GOP or Republicans in general.

No matter what type of repair job the state GOP does, it will be very tough to overcome the negativity surrounding their leader, President Bush. How far his negative approval ratings hurt the Montana Republicans will not be known until November 2008.

The Republican party could use someone like a right-leaning Chuck Schumer to steer their ship.
