Well, at least the candidates for President are not that hard up, yet.
So far this week, it has been a busy time for my Inbox as it is being hit with e-mails from the candidates. So far, I’ve received e-mails from Richardson, McCain (2), Obama (2), Giuliani, and Clinton.
It’s only Wednesday.
It is approaching the end of the second quarter financial reporting deadline (June 30), so they want to get as much in the bank as they can, so they can report large amounts of campaign cash when they release their reports by July 15.
The media will report and report on the finances of the candidates, so this is a major issue for the candidates. Many a staffer doing the fundraising has been fired by not meeting expected goals.
The campaign manager and the campaign consultant will say something like, “Billy-Bob, I need you to fetch us $25 million this quarter.”
Billy-Bob will say, “Will do, boss!”
The last week of June will be interesting as Billy-Bob will sell his soul to meet the goal. He’ll be freaked out on caffeine and there will be yelling and screaming. A cell phone will be attached to his ear for 18 hours a day. He’ll call during his lunch, dinner, and when he’s on the potty. He’ll call you during these times, too. He’ll develop a list and have his candidate call the “big donors” to give them the personal touch.
He’ll have a team of people calling coast to coast asking for $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford to meet the goal. Billy-Bob will scream at his fundraising staff, “It’s only 8:45pm in Hawaii, so it’s not time to quit. Keep calling, damn it, Keep CALLING!!!”
So, which e-mails were the most impressive and did not waste my time with a ton of words?
Answer: Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton.
