It’s the War, stupid
Is the party over? The Democrats had the momentum when the 2006 elections rolled around due mostly to their promise to end the war.
That has not happened. Just six months into the new term, the American people are starting to turn against the Democrats according to this POLL by ABC News/Washington Post.
On the approval question on how the Democrats, Republicans and the President are doing, the Democrats have lost 10 points since April. The Republicans lost three and the President stayed the same.
The Democrats and President Bush are basically tied on the question of who provides the stronger leadership role. It is the Democrats 45 and Bush 44.
Yep, it’s the war and I would be ticked off too if I voted for a candidate who made a promise to end the war and then voted to fund it. But, that’s just me.
It IS a simple life…
…when you are in the slammer. The money, the looks, and the publicity and Paris Hilton still has to pay the price for breaking the law by spending time in jail.
It would be tough going from her life to that little jail cell. I imagine the jail food is a step or two down for her, too. But the toughest things to give up are probably cell phones and Blackberrys. Ouch!
Here’s what some previous inmates had to say about the jail:
“You have people defecating on themselves, urinating on themselves, sleeping on the ground — it’s horrible,” said Shamarra Thomas, 31, of Los Angeles, who spent two days in a holding cell for neglecting to pay parking tickets.
Teresa Jones, 50, of Lancaster, called the jail “so filthy it’s worse than skid row.”
At check in, jailers hand out a pamphlet on infections, which are common, she said.
“That place is hell, it’s awful. Life is easy compared to this,” Jones said.
