Today I received an e-mail from Hillary Clinton’s campaign asking my advice about a campaign song. I really appreciate that and did listen to the songs before making my selection (listed below).
Hillary’s staff must recognize that Jack the Blogger is a historian and connoisseur of music and spent many dollars to ensure my eight-track tape player, then later my cassette player and, even more recently, my CD player had an abundant supply of rock music. Then there’s the vinyl albums and singles tucked away somewhere in this house.
Plus, there may be another reason she asked me to make a selection for her (see below).
Artists and songs to pick from included:
City of Blinding Lights – U2
Suddenly I See – KT Tunstall
I’m a Believer – Smash Mouth
Get Ready – The Temptations
Ready to Run – Dixie Chicks
Rock This Country! – Shania Twain
Beautiful Day – U2
Right Here, Right Now – Jesus Jones
I’ll Take You There – The Staple Singers
I voted for “Beautiful Day” by U2. You can also pick your own song, which should open it up to some very funny suggestions.
In 1996, Bill Clinton used a song for his campaign by REO Speedwagon called, “Building a Bridge.” As many readers know, I am a big REO fan. Maybe Hillary’s staff knows this and that’s the reason for the e-mail.
Although Bill Clinton did not get my vote that year, I forgave REO and continue to love them to this day. In fact, their newest CD is playing right now, “Find Your Own Way Home.” You should buy this CD. Their first single, “I Needed to Fall” is on the charts!
Right after Hillary’s e-mail came this…
John McCain’s campaign also sent me an e-mail this morning. For a $200 donation, he’ll send me an “autographed copy of Faith of My Fathers, the national best-selling story of John McCain and his family.”
I guess he did read my post about his lame answer on the torture question at the debate the other night.
Nonetheless, The Western Word (TWW) appreciates all the e-mails from the Presidential campaigns.
