The Western Word (TWW) salutes the 13 Republican State Legislators who decided to try and reach a compromise with the Schweitzer Administration last Saturday.

According an Associated Press STORY, they met in a weekend retreat to hammer out a compromise.

Good for them.

By compromising and having face to face talks, you probably saved a sinking Republican ship from going completely under. The Republican ship has been heavily damaged this legislative session by some of the more extreme members, but meeting with the Schweitzer Administration was the correct thing to do. There’s always some middle ground that both sides can agree on – if you talk.

Your leaders were fighting small battles and lost sight of the goal: Montana. They were losing the war. The whole 90 day session was a circus.

Hopefully your reaching out to the other side will be fruitful and you can end the special session soon as it is costing us $38,000 a day.
