I am the tax man…

It looks like it is even hard for the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee to deal with taxes. The Senate Finance committee has jurisdiction over the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) ran a story on May 9 about U.S. Senator Max Baucus, D-Mont., having to pay a couple of penalties for not paying his taxes on time for his $1.4 million Georgetown house and on property in Montana.

So far The Western Word (TWW) has not seen this in the papers or on the news here in Montana. Why?

But, have no fear political junkies, the Montana GOP is looking out for you. They did a little political commercial about it that’s posted on YouTube. They also provide a link to the WSJ article on their website.

One of the more amusing quotes I’ve seen was from the Senator’s spokesman in defending the errors by saying, “Every year, millions of Americans struggle as they sit down at kitchen tables to file their taxes.”

TWW does not believe that too many people who own $1.4 million homes do their taxes at the kitchen table. But that’s just a hunch.
