Montana At-Large and Imus

Montana At-Large 2008
The Western Word (TWW) noticed this morning that Yellowstone County Commissioner Bill Kennedy, D-Billings, has notified his friends at the Billings Gazette that he planning on announcing that he is running for U.S. Congress. The seat is currently held by Congressman Denny Rehberg, R-Mont.
In 2004, Kennedy lost to Secretary of State, Brad Johnson, in a very close race. TWW wonders why he is not running against Johnson again.
Looks like it will be a “double press” day for Kennedy meaning you make an announcement that you are going to make an announcement that you are running and you get two hits in 24 hours (today and tomorrow) in the press for one thing. Nicely done from the political perspective.

Imus in the Morning
TWW wonders when the Don Imus issue will die. It is all over the news. TWW feels it was a terrible thing for Imus to say and he should be punished. The Rutgers women’s basketball team did not deserve this attack which was supposed to be a joke. Other radio and TV folks should also take a close look at what got Imus into hot water and cool their conversations some.
Maybe Imus will head to satellite radio like Stern did. He may not have a choice if CBS Radio fires him. He was already unplugged from MSNBC.
There are a couple of columnists who have written about this issue and I think they were very finely written. First up is the one by Mr. Jason Whitlock, a columnist for the Kansas City Star, who writes, “Imus isn’t the real bad guy.”
The another one that caught my attention written by Kathleen Parker, called, “Don Imus’ Via Dolorosa.”
