The Great Falls Tribune is doing some stories about Malmstrom AFB and the loss of 50 missiles. They did a story for Sunday and another one appeared on Monday.
In Sunday’s edition, they had an on-line poll that that asked, “Should saving the 50 missiles at Malmstrom be a higher priority than pursuing new missions?” According to the results, 58% said saving the missiles should not be a higher priority than pursuing new missions. There were 254 votes in the unscientific poll.
It does not appear the Montana delegation feels this way. According to the Tribune, Congressman Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., U.S. Senator Max Baucus, D-Mont., and U.S. Senator Jon Tester, D-Mont., said they would “fight for the 50” through persuasion and political steps.
The Western Word (TWW) already addressed many of these issues in previous posts. Unlike many of the reporters covering the military and veterans issues for the Montana broadcast and print media, Jack the Blogger has walked the walk. Nonetheless they try!
You can find the posts by searching for Malmstrom at the top of this blog. TWW still contends that the present delegation may not have the clout to stop this loss, but do they have the clout to do some “horse trading” for a new mission. Time will tell.
