What a tangled “Webb” we weave…

Is it me or did U.S. Senator Jim Webb, D-Va., hang his staffer, a veteran, out to dry on the issue of trying to bring a pistol and ammo into the United States Senate? It seems that way in this STORY from CNN.

Webb called it “extremely unfortunate” and then turned the story into his support of the second amendment.

It seems to me that Webb handed his weapon off to one of his staffers who in turn probably gave it to another staffer, Phillip Thompson, who was just doing his job by taking the senator’s stuff back to his office. I’ll bet he never knew the gun and ammo was in the bag.

Even after Webb’s press conference, there are a lot of unanswered questions about this incident.

Although Webb earned an A rating from the National Rifle Association, which rates lawmakers on how closely their positions align with the gun lobbying group’s policy, he has earned an F from The Western Word (TWW) for responsibility and leadership.

  1. Just this from the CNN story:“He said he handed his weapon off to aides before getting on a plane to New Orleans on Friday. He said he did not give Thompson the weapon directly, and was unsure how it ended up with him.”

  2. <>It seems to me that Webb handed his weapon off to one of his staffers who in turn probably gave it to another staffer, Phillip Thompson, who was just doing his job by taking the senator’s stuff<>Any fact in this statement? This isn’t even what the staffer said.
