New Office Space, Working more, and Fundraisers

There were a few political stories across the websites of Montana’s newspapers today. Here’s the old tongue-in-check look at the stories…

Tester has a permanent office!
I am happy that freshman U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D-Mont.) will soon have a permanent office.

Apparently, it will be “somewhere” in the Russell Building on the second AND third floors (it must be tough being a freshman).

I have not seen a story about what the actual room number is, but John Glenn used the same office at one time. He also orbited the earth, so I look for great things to come out of that office.

Maybe there will be another press release with this information so the Montana media can pick it up and run it for two days?

Chairman Max…
The Great Falls Tribune ran a story today about U.S. Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont.) which was given the headline, “Chairman Baucus works more — and loves it”

In the story, the Tribune stated that Baucus “…became the first Montanan to head the key tax committee after Democrats won control of the Senate in November.”

I think he had already been Chairman of the Finance Committee before (around 2001-2002). He is the first Montanan, but he’s apparently chaired it before and not just since the Democrats won control in November.

Baucus said he would save the 50 missiles and bring some drones to Malmstrom.
He is in the majority and the Chairman of a “powerful” committee, so I would expect the planes should be flying in and out of Malmstrom about 30-60 days from the date of the 2008 election. The ball is in his court. He IS the “senior” senator, heh?

The Tribune did not seem to ask him any tough questions, like about fundraising, running for reelection, or how Mrs. Baucus is doing, etc.

Rehberg holds “event”
The Billings Gazette reported that Congressman Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.) is planning to hold an event at a resort in a story called, “Rehberg plans event at resort”

Surprise!!!! It’s a fundraiser! It will be held at the Yellowstone Club.

They also briefly mention that Max Baucus held a fundraiser, too, at Big Sky.

It’s interesting how Lee Newspapers portrayed an event at the same location (Yellowstone Club) about one year ago, “Burns to host fundraiser at club for rich”

Hmmm.
