Iraq vote fails in the Senate

It looks like the democrats are finding out that it is tough to move legislation in the U.S. Senate unless you have 60 democrats. Although the democrats have a majority, you really need 60 votes in the senate to get anything done. This hampered Republicans in the past. That’s the rules.

The democrats failed to end the debate by four votes (56-34).

Montana’s two U.S. Senators, Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Jon Tester (D-Mont.) voted with their party. I don’t agree with them on this vote. I’d like to see their plans.

Seven Republicans did vote with the Democrats. Ten Senators did not vote.

Yes, things have gone wrong in Iraq. The plans should have been better. I would like to see the President’s plan given a chance and then after a few months if it is not working, start withdrawing. The Iraq government will need to stand on its own two feet, soon.

I doubt the democrats will let this go. They have other plans to stop it and this may gridlock the government.
