The Great Falls Tribune is reporting today (February 8) “Baucus works to restore F-15 conversion dollars.”

Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont.) is trying to ensure there’s money to even bring the F-15s to the Montana National Guard.

But, Congressman Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.) beat Baucus by a day on February 7 with the headline, “Rehberg meets with military leaders to discuss funding.”

In politics, getting your story in the media first is important.

It’s also fun to watch the jockeying for credit.

As I blogged on January 17, there may be “Tough Times Ahead for the Military Folks in Montana” with Conrad Burns out of the picture and no current member holding a seat on any military committee.

If this funding does not come through and the Montana National Guard loses their planes or if the number of planes projected to come to Montana are cut, you can blame the democrats. It’s that simple.
