Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer has momentum on his side. I watched the State of the State address last night on TV. He’s pretty smooth and, although I don’t think this was his best speech, he relayed his dreams and wishes for the state.
As normal for a politician, he took credit for all the good things in the state. Brian Schweitzer does remind me a lot of Bill Clinton.
I don’t see any Republican beating him in 2008.
Of course, there could be a big scandal or something pop up that could change the course.
The Republicans will put someone up as the sacrificial lamb. Who could it be?
Republicans appear to be trying to derail the Schweitzer machine. They have been unsuccessful. This will probably cost them in the eye of the public and make them look like obstructionists.
Another issue that will probably pop up in 2008 is the Governor possibly running for Vice President with one of the several Democrat Presidential Candidates. He would see media scrutiny from the national press like never before.
I think Bill Richardson is a dark horse in the big race. I like Richardson although I lean to the right. I also like Giuliani.
But that may stretch it some having two western governors on the same ticket. There’s always Hillary…
