Withdrawal

This is the time of year when I suffer withdrawal from watching so much football. There’s one big game left and that’s in almost two weeks. What will I do before then?

I know there’s a “Honey-Do” list around here somewhere…but there’s also the NFL Network to check out every few hours for breaking news.

The pinnacle for me was the weekend when there were four NFL divisional games (two on Saturday and two on Sunday). That weekend is always my favorite time.

It seems they are running the same commercials over and over again during the games this year. I’m growing tired of the Dodge commercial of the Rock-em/Sock-em robots. The $2.99 dinner commercial from Wendy’s is getting a little old, too.

I’m also a little torn about who to cheer for during the Superbowl. I want Peyton Manning to win the big one, but I also like the da Bears and Brian Urlacher. I guess I will be happy with whatever the outcome. I hope it’s a game like the Colts/Patriots had.

CBS will be carrying the Superbowl this year. I think they will do a good job. I think Jim Nantz and Phil Simms do a good job. I like NBC’s crew of Michaels and Madden, too. I really like Chris Collingsworth, but can’t stand Bryant Gumbel. The ESPN Monday night crew did a fine job. Fox’s crew with Joe Buck and Troy Akman are good.
Fox has a great pre-game show, but sometimes they talk too much. I usually watch ESPN until the Fox and CBS pre-game shows come on and then surf back and forth.

I remember when Dick Enberg and Merlin Olson did the games together – they were great. Bob Trumpy is a good one, too.

When my children place me in a nursing home in a few years, I want to be able to watch the games on my own TV and also be able to surf the Web from my room. I want a private room, too. It’s that simple for me-just that simple…

1 thought on “Withdrawal

  1. While I’d be happy for Urlacher to get his ring, I just can’t bring myself to root for the Bears in this instance. You’ll also want a headset for your phone in that pending nursing home room, btw…
