State of Union Speech

After watching the State of the Union speech, one thing that kept going through my mind is that President Bush has a tough couple of years left. He lost his majorities in the House and Senate in November and his agenda had to take a major hit with these losses. One thing though, our country will survive whoever is in control of the House and Senate…or who is President.

Was the war necessary? It really does not matter now as we are in it and what we do will affect us for the next century. Someone should have mentioned that to Senator Webb before his speech. Monday morning quarterbacking is done too much in DC, especially for political purposes. Do you remember the love and togetherness after 9-11?
The war on terror is still going to go on, but will we be fighting it on the streets of the United States instead of in Iraq and Afghanistan?

But, can we really afford to let Iraq be overrun by terrorists? Will there be another Saddam take control of the country if we leave? Should we say to the Iraq government, “You have 90 days to get it together or we’re leaving?” What would that say to the rest of the world?

We know that unemployment is at an all-time low. More people own homes. The stock market is at all time highs. Oil prices are falling and the deficit is cut. We have not been attacked since 9-11. The democrats now have a lot of control, so we’ll see how they do in the next two years. Is it the responsibility of the government to ensure everyone gets their fair share even if some people don’t want to work for it?

As a veteran, I wish the President would have addressed some veterans’ issues tonight.

There’s so many people running for President, it will be amazing if anything gets done.
So many questions…so little time…..
