NFL, Wilma, the Chiefs and Dolphins

Sometimes it makes you wonder who is in charge of the NFL? Better yet, who made the bone-headed decision not to telecast the Chiefs-Dolphins game live?
The Chiefs and Dolphins were supposed to play on Sunday in Miami. Due to the hurricane, they moved the game to Friday night at 7:00 p.m. EST. This is the first Friday night game played by the Chiefs since 1964. The Chiefs found out about the change on Thursday morning at 9:30. Tough to win on the road and tougher to win with the short notice.
So, I subscribe to games through a satellite provider. It’s expensive, but it is worth it to watch the games I want instead of letting some geek in a studio pick the game that’s being broadcast just because he likes the colors of the uniforms.
So, it enraged me when I found out that they would not be broadcasting the game live except in KC and Miami, but the NFL said it would be played “Tape Delayed” on Sunday. Who in the hell wants to watch a video of the game that you know what the result is?
You guys sucked on this one.
Here is what “Customer Service” told me (the XXXX takes the place of the company’s name)
Thanks for your question about the last minute schedule change for the 10/23 Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins game, due to Hurricane Wilma. Here is the latest information:– The game will play live tonight, 10/21 in Miami at 7 pm ET.– [XXXXXXX] subscribers nationwide will see the delayed telecast of tonight’s game in it’s normally-scheduled window: Sunday, October 23 at 1:00 pm ET on channel [XXX].– In addition, all [XXXXXXX] customers with the [XXXXXXXXXXXX] package and above can view this delayed broadcast later that Sunday night on the [XXXXXXXXX] at 8:00 pm ET.–[XXXXXXX] customers who receive local channels in Miami and Kansas City will be able to view the live game tonight via their local [XXX] station. We realize that this may be disappointing for fans who live outside of the team’s home markets. Please understand, legal restrictions do not allow the NFL to air live games on Fridays or Saturdays without getting waivers from high schools or colleges. Because of the last minute switch, the NFL and [XXX] were only able to secure waivers from schools in the Kansas City and Miami local areas and not nationwide. Thank you for your understanding.
Again, you guys sucked on this one. I subscribe to 16 live games a year – I would like my money back for this one!
Thanks a lot to KCFX “The Fox” in Kansas City for the streaming audio of the game. You guys rock!
