Caught My Eye…

It’s Friday and time to celebrate! Congratulations for making it through another week.

By the way I hope your March Madness brackets are doing well (unlike mine).

If this is your first time visiting The Western Word, the “Caught My Eye” column is where I take a quick look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week – and I often throw in some sarcasm just to make you smile. So get ready to head into your weekend armed with knowledge and a smile.

Today I write about grilled deer, unanimous vote, the beat down, Bachmann is back, Dylan, older than dirt, plus I pry open my Political Inbox and share!

Wednesday’s Political Potpourri

Here comes summer – so get out there and enjoy it!

Today I am writing this column from my basement (using only a flashlight for light) hoping that the unmanned drones flying overhead don’t spot me.  I hear they are spying on people and the land we own.  Although summer starts today, I may not venture outside much with all this spying going on by the Obama Administration…

The good news is that I live just outside the 100 mile zone around the border.  Yes that zone – the zone that gives the Feds “operational control” over everything and everybody – so I may be safe.  Check out the map I recently discovered on the top-secret website run by the government…

I just hope they don’t send their agents disguised as aliens to probe me (again).  We can only pray that the Patriot Act protects us from all this mayhem…

It’s time to get (a little more) serious…here at The Western Word today I write about a new poll, drones, securing the border, the Miller campaign, a cellphone ban, and much more… Continue reading

Monday Morning Politics

YES!!!  Today is the first Monday in June and Tuesday is Primary Election Day here in Montana – so don’t forget to vote!  There are many great candidates on both Republican and Democratic ballots – but Montana voters can only vote on one ballot in the primary election.  This is something that needs to be changed – so we can actually have the best people facing off in November.

To all those candidates who placed their names on the ballot in an attempt to make a difference, thank you!

Today I write about illegal donations, Bullock on Maddow, Schweitzer in the New York Times, frontrunner blues and deli, Rehberg Air, unknown U.S. House candidates, filthy rich, poll results, and much more! Continue reading

Thursday Numbers

Hello Thursday!  It is now officially OK to start daydreaming about the weekend!

If this is your first time visiting The Western Word (TWW), my Thursday Numbers column is where I take a look at the numbers mentioned in the news and provide commentary (often with just a touch of sarcasm).

NOTICE:  By reading this column, you will probably gain an untold amount of knowledge!  This information will probably impress your family, friends and co-workers, and it might even be life changing – consider yourself warned…

This week I write about Obama and Romney fundraising, Crossroads GPS, attack money in Montana, Christie and Booker, miles in Montana, important historical dates, sending in the clowns, candidates on my ballots, a little bit of Monica in my life, Greek yogurt, low ratings for Piers, and a bite with Mitt!  There’s a lot more so read on…

Monday Morning Politics

Another week is upon us and The Western Word (TWW) will be with you each and every day providing you with that independent commentary you’ve come to love and enjoy!  Have no fear; we’ll get through this week together.

If you are a new visitor to TWW, “Monday Morning Politics” is where I put together several of the political stories from the past weekend all in one place for your reading pleasure.  I also offer some commentary about these stories often laced with a little snarkiness…

Today I write about absentee ballots, being shipp-ed off, what’s in my mailbox, big money, 300 words, H.R. 1505, Keenan in Montana, spinning the numbers, unemployment 101, energy in the Obama campaign, and much more!

Montana Governor 2012: A Scandal!

One of the last things any of the Republican candidates for Montana Governor needed now that we are within 45 days until the June 5 primary is a scandal.  It appears that the Ken Miller for Governor Campaign got just that – call it an April surprise!

The Great Falls Tribune broke the story yesterday about the Miller campaign being accused of “misreporting funds, accepting campaign donations over the statutory contribution limits, accepting anonymous donations and failing to disclose certain campaign expenditures.”  The accusations were reportedly made by Miller’s former finance director, Kelly Bishop of Polson.

By the way, I applaud the Great Falls Tribune for breaking the story, and also I give the Tribune a high-five for actually showing the correct photo of Ken Miller this time.     Continue reading

Politics 2012: Money, Enthusiasm, & Beam Me Up

And just like that you’ve made it to Wednesday, congratulations!  It is downhill to the weekend from here.  I promise the weekend will get here…

Today on The Western Word I write about the money in the Montana Governor and Attorney General’s race, I mention the lack of enthusiasm for Romney (I found a poll to prove it), I write about Rehberg’s belt buckle, I mention a correction, and I take us back to 2002 where we hear from James A. Traficant.  There’s more so read on…

Politics 2012: Jet Setters, Wolves, and Clowns

Happy Tuesday!  Hold on…the weekend will get here – I promise!

Today I take a look at our jet setting Senator and Congressman, I examine a new poll, I find even more silliness from the Republicans, I write about the gubernatorial candidates debating wolves, I discuss the postal service and voting, and I close out the column talking about the General Services Administration and clowns…

It’s been a couple of weeks since Thursday Numbers was published, but we’re back with all the numbers behind the news!

In case you’re new to The Western Word, Thursday Numbers is where we kind of countdown the numbers in the news and the stories behind them – with some commentary.

Today I take a look at some polls, Tebow, unemployment, buttocks, a birthday, columns, cows, turkeys, bowling, and much more – so read on…
