Ryan Scares Me

U.S. House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) scares me. Not because he looks like an older “Eddie Munster” but because he wants to dramatically cut spending in Washington.

Ryan writes in this article that his “budget cuts $6.2 trillion in spending from the president’s budget over the next 10 years and puts the nation on track to pay off our national debt.”

Ryan scares me the same way as when I was a child and I knew that loose tooth I had needed to be pulled. It was going to hurt to pull it because a new tooth was coming in behind it.

That’s what we are facing in Federal Government these days – some pain – sadly there’s probably more pain than that of a loose tooth.

My dad came home one evening and saw the baby tooth needed pulling and gave me a deadline – “Get that tooth out by 6:00 pm or I will pull it for you,” he said.

We’re facing a deadline with Federal Government – kind of like the imposed deadline by my dad – and there will be some pain. Some may feel the pain more than others – and that is where it becomes political. The bottom line is we need lots of cuts and a lot less spending.

Representative Paul Ryan is “shooting for the moon” with his proposal today – starting with his 2012 budget ideas. Will Ryan get to the moon? Probably not, but he’d better get close enough for us the see the man on the moon (and what clothes he’s wearing) or we may never get out of debt and our country may be ruined.

As for me and my loose tooth – I ran to Grandma’s house and she helped me pull it – at about 5:55 pm. Sure, I felt some pain but I soon got over it. There will be pain with this budget, but we will get over it and be better for it in the long run.
