Donor Pleads Guilty

According to the Associated Press, “The Obama campaign and a Democratic U.S. senator from Montana say they are giving to charity money they received from a Big Arm man who pleaded guilty to felony charges following a federal corruption probe in Alaska.”

The Democratic U.S. Senator from Montana is Jon Tester.

According to this story, “William C. Weimar, 68, was convicted in August of illegally funneling money to a political consultant for an Alaska state Senate candidate in the 2004 primary…” He will be sentenced November 12.

The AP reported, “…Weimar gave $2,100 to the campaign of U.S. Sen. Jon Tester in 2006, and $250 each to the congressional campaigns of Democrats Monica Lindeen in 2006 and Jim Hunt in 2008.”

Lindeen is currently running for Montana State Auditor.

I guess a good question for the reporter to ask of those who received donations would have been, “Did you do any special favors for Mr. Weimar?”

It’s also interesting to me that Weimar was convicted in August and the money he donated has not been donated yet. Of course, they say they “plan on” donating it. We’ll be watching.

Surprisingly, nobody claims to have ever met Mr. Weimar.

Guns, Taxes, Economy, and Coffee

According to a new Rasmussen Reports national survey, “Nearly two-thirds of U.S. voters (63%) say Barack Obama is more likely than John McCain to restrict an individual’s right to own a gun.”

Also according to Rasmussen, McCain is now trusted more on taxes and the economy than Obama.

But, according to the 7-11 Coffee Cup election results (7-Election 08) Obama is leading McCain 60-40. Montana does not have a 7-11 store (according to their website).

Other Endorsements

This has been an exciting election season. The Western Word will be staying up late on Tuesday night to watch all the returns. Yes, I will be Blogging and Twittering (JacktheBlogger) throughout the night.

There are a few other people that I am pulling for this election season. These people I know personally and know they will do a great job if elected.

Up in the Havre and Chinook area Wendy Warburton is a candidate for House District 34. I’ve known Wendy for several years. She is a hard worker and grew up on a ranch south of Chinook. She’s young and will bring a lot of energy to Helena. Remember the mess during the last legislative session? We need some new people in Helena and Wendy will be a great addition. You can visit her website HERE. If you are a voter in HD 34, please give Wendy Warburton your vote!

Larry Anderson is from Missoula and is currently serving as Missoula County Commissioner. Larry is completing the term of Barbara Evans and running for a full term. Larry graduated from the University of Montana and he has a Master’s in Business Administration. He was the administrator for the city of Missoula and also served on the city council. He was also a private business owner. Larry is a veteran of the Vietnam War. You can visit his website HERE. If you are a voter in Missoula County, please give Larry your support!

Jim Whitaker is running for Senate District 10, which is in the Great Falls area. It is an open seat. Jim has lived his entire life in Cascade County, except for when he served in the United States Army for three years. Jim served a term in the Montana House in 2001, so he has the experience to hit the ground running in Helena. Jim understands small business and he wants to give more money back to the taxpayers and develop our natural resources. The folks in SD 10 can do themselves a favor by voting for Jim Whitaker!

Like I said, it’s been a very exciting political season! I salute all those who threw their hat into the political ring. That’s what makes this country great.

This Scares Me

The one thing that really bothers me about Barack Obama is his friends. There’s just so much we don’t know, like how close he is to some of these people who hate America. The friends Obama keeps tells us a lot about his judgment.

Here is some more information out there about one of Obama’s friends:
